Modern IT Partners is interviewing candidates for Cloud Engineer position for contract-based individuals for long-term contracts. Through this role, the applicant will be responsible to design, implement, secure, and maintain enterprise cloud and network infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in cloud networking, communications infrastructure, security, and multi-site enterprise environments. This role requires a highly skilled professional who can lead infrastructure projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions within AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.
- Architect and support LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud networking solutions across multiple locations.
- Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, network segmentation, and access control technologies.
- Administer and support VoIP, video conferencing, and unified communications platforms.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network, cloud, and communication infrastructure issues.
- Develop and maintain network diagrams, architecture documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, cloud adoption initiatives, and modernization projects.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, best practices, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business and technical requirements.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in senior-level networking and communications infrastructure roles.
- Current AWS certification(s) required (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Advanced Networking, or equivalent).
- Current Microsoft Azure certification(s) required (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Network Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent).
- Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise cloud and network infrastructure.
Essential Experience
- LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud network architecture and design.
- Firewalls, VPNs, identity and access management, and network security controls.
- Voice over IP (VoIP), video conferencing, and unified communications technologies.
- Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across multiple locations and environments.
- Creating and maintaining detailed network and infrastructure documentation.
- Leading infrastructure deployment, migration, and modernization projects.
- Hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premises and cloud services.
- Network monitoring, performance management, and operational support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or ARM templates).
- Familiarity with SD-WAN technologies.
- Experience with cloud security frameworks and governance.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and hybrid identity solutions.
- Experience supporting high-availability and disaster recovery architectures.
- Government contracting experience is a plus.

Compensation:
$90,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year depending on experience and qualifications.
